The Pupil Premium (PP) is funding provided by the government each academic year to support students who may need additional help to achieve their full potential. The amount is based on the number of students receiving free school meals (FSM) currently or within the last six years (Ever6), the number of looked after children (LAC), and the number of previously looked after students who have been adopted from care. This funding aims to ensure that these students achieve as highly as possible, in line with their non-pupil-premium peers.

Currently, around 27.5% of our school population are Pupil Premium students, which is significantly above the national average. Pupil Premium funding is crucial in helping us "realise potential," a core principle of our school's mission statement.

At Coombe Wood School, Pupil Premium funding is used in three key ways:

1. To improve high-quality learning and teaching.
2. To support students in accessing and enjoying a broad range of educational experiences.
3. To directly support these students with their studies.

The funding priorities are determined by the individual and group needs of students entitled to it, and these priorities are discussed during the annual budget-setting process. The headteacher regularly monitors and analyses the provision and spending of the Pupil Premium fund, providing information on attendance, exclusions, and outcomes for these students to the Governors each term. All staff are involved in identifying and overcoming any barriers to learning and progress within classes.
