Our Sixth Form
CWS Sixth Form overview
The first sixth form cohort started in September 2021, and with this a great opportunity for new students to join Coombe Wood School at Key Stage 5. In conjunction with Greenshaw Learning Trust, Coombe Wood Sixth Form will provide an excellent opportunity for young people to excel in their Post 16 Education. At Coombe Wood School we believe in preparing students for the challenges of the outside world through the school’s core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.
Why study at Coombe Wood?
Year 12's at Coombe Wood Sixth Form will join a friendly, inclusive and highly successful school that is only 8 minutes from East Croydon via the Tram. Students will have a fantastic new building, their own sixth form centre and state of the art facilities to aid their learning. In order to maximise their potential, students will have access to an A Level academic pathway, which includes the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), and for prospective sports students we will offer the BTEC Sport Level 3 Extended Diploma alongside specific sport-based enrichment.
At Coombe Wood our standards and expectations are extremely high. We recognise as the rigour and demands of A Levels and other Level 3 qualifications increase, the competitiveness of students getting into Russell Group Universities, high end apprenticeships and employment will match this. Furthermore, our sixth form students will be expected to be role models and head up our School Leadership Team with the same high standards.
Students will have comprehensive pastoral support, careers guidance, outstanding teaching and an extensive enrichment programme to support their transition and development while at Coombe Wood Sixth Form.
